Got bored last night, so jumped on the KZ page and there isn't a single Durango, from the HT to the Gold, that I'd want to buy. 2 biggest issues are the theater seating and the stupid Morryde steps. I much prefer a swivel rocker/recliner. On nearly every model, except the rear kitchen models, they've put the sofa across the rear and replaced the recliners with theater seating. I've vented on the steps several times before so, 'nuff said.
I then jumped over to Jayco's site since they were my #2 choice when shopping. Same thing across the board. They're even further down the list, though, as they've gone to the d@mn Morryde steps, too. The model I was looking, hard, at, they still have, but has the steps. Biggest issue I had with them, when I was shopping, was the anemic tank sizes, especially the black tank.
I've got to wonder how much it's costing Morryde to get these stupid steps into nearly =every= brand that I've seen, so far. Are they =giving= them away, or what? Frankly, if we lost our current rig, I simply don't know what we'd do as I refuse to use those steps.
Since KZ lists this forum on their site, I sure hope they monitor it on occasion, to get the "lay of the land", as it were.

I still think that the stupid steps are used for an overall cost savings. They may cost more but there is no frame or siding preparation required. In addition, the stupid steps can be installed in seconds with just a few screws.
You and I think alike, perhaps we use an RV to travel and want access anytime we pull off the road, not just setup and leveled in a campground. We use the bathroom and stop for lunch and don't want to deal with flipping dirty steps around. But we are in the minority and count for nothing in the big picture. I wanted to upgrade a motorcycle years ago, but didn't want a Harley, crotch rocket or any of the look a likes, so I still have the old one, they can keep the fad bikes and I will keep my money.

No your not, I wouldn't have them. I was on the site and didn't see a RK and thought they dropped it as it does not have the following of RL's.

Well Lyle you better get use to what is called the step above steps from either MorRyde or LCI who has sort of coped MorRyde's steps somewhat an are for the most part in all the newer 5th wheels now ... As I stated on another thread we love ours an are happy to have them, they are far more stable than the old steps we had in our previous 5th wheel an I have yet found a spot that I could not put them out ... Granted there are some place's they wouldn't work in storage places, or possibly that one place along the road that you needed to kick the tires ... But since we store our 5th in our driveway when
we are home we have no problems an again I haven't found a place yet that I couldn't put them out, in rest area's I make sure i park as close to the drivers side line as possible thus there is pretty much enough room if s Swift truck pulls in the other slot next to you which they have LOL ...
I would say possibly out of the thousands of 5th wheels made that have either the MorRyde
or LCI step above steps possibly two percent store their trailers in a storage place where the steps
wouldn't work an more than likely out of the percentage only few want to do something after putting
them in storage ...
As far as cost, the MorRyde steps (4 step) run around $350.00, of course as stated our trailer already had such.... This past year we added the new strut assist which was if I remember correctly $150
an hand rail for $45 last year so I'm sure the others may be cheaper ... As Stated our Durango Gold
came with MorRyde but I see the newer Durango's now have the LCI steps so like everything else things
change because the other vender has a cheaper price...
Again as cost, i'd bet the old foldout steps even though they were an are built out of steel may have not
cost any more than the newer aluminum built steps do to the price of steel up to a few years ago ...
Like I said in the other thread, just because some people don't like such dozen't mean they are bad that's what makes the world go around ... Hey the DW hates Walmart, we never shop their, but thousands of people do, so this dozen't mean others shouldn't just because we don't ...

Chuck Comment Swift truck pulls in probably needs explaining to anyone's not driven commercially. Sure Wish I Finished Training: Swift will put two trainees in the same truck, kind of like the blind leading the blind. Swift is known as a training company, but they do have some experienced drivers with a million miles and they are prominently marked as such.

Chuck, there =are= alternatives that brace on the ground and that mount underneath like the "traditional" steps do. Specifically, the Torklift Glowstep Revolution. I just feel that there should be an option to =not= have the non-folding steps.

I'm interested in purchasing 2020 KZ RV DURANGO GOLD G386FLF. Anyone out there have one? We plan on full timing it and its most like a house and seems like has everything we'll need. we've VERY interested in solar as well, anyone had experience having the actual solar package come installed? Or did you do it yourself after?
Also who is the best dealer to purchase from as far as service after sale..... we've looked at MANY youtubes about RV's and the service after sale seems to be the biggest challenge, looking for your expertise you bought one are you happy with your dealer all around and who was it?
Excited to get this next adventure started but want to do it right..... appreciate any help you all can provide

We saw that model while at the KZ rally this summer. It's a really nice floor plan with lots of storage space.
One thing to watch out for is that (even though it should not be that way) some dealers will not service a trailer that they did not sell. Even if they would service it, it is possible they would put their own customers before others. I live in my Durango Gold and my dealer has done me great on service so far. I will drop it off in the morning when they open, they work on it, and I go get it that afternoon. So far it has not had to stay the night for repairs. My dealer is in Spring, Texas.
Good luck with your purchase and finding a dealer. I think you will like KZ trailers. They are well built.

I forgot to mention that there is a thread on dealers on the forum. Check it out and you can see some good ones and some not so good ones.
I don't know anything about the solar.

Thanks so much for the reply, I'm in Austin, who is your dealer in Spring? Might be worth the trip

Terry Vaughn, location in Spring (north side) and in Alvin (south side). I've been pleased with them so far. I was concerned about service issues since I live in it and they can't keep it for any period of time since it's my house, but so far it hasn't been a problem.

I'll add that KZ does authorize mobile repair for the Gold series as many live in them.

While we have a different model, it came with the factory solar package. I like it. Nicely installed and it works well. keeps my house batteries well charged. In my case the factory charge controller has enough capacity to add another panel or two.
