Hello all, we went to look at the 353RKT last Thursday. as i had previously said it is 2017, that had never been sold. Now, the rest of the story. The seller is no longer an active dealer for KZ or any manufacture. So, they have no service dept. or make ready people. The trailer is "as is, where is" with the KZ factory warranty since it is "new" unit. The unit appears to have never been washed, it has trim loose, doors misaligned, a reclining love seat, that reclines when it wants to, exterior baggage doors, that don't open without brute force, steps that have folded down and are now rusted tight and no batteries. Even with the PDI reference I found here on the forum, it was impossible to fully check out the trailer. I'm hoping that when they were a KZ dealer, these things would have been addressed at time of purchase, now your on your own. So, loving the floor plan and knowing the possible risks and weighing the potential costs, we made a cash offer. They declined, with no counter offer. So, we drove four hours back to Indiana for a weekend with family before flying back to DFW. We cussed and discussed this all weekend and feel comfortable with our offer. I understand the seller is taking a loss on the unit, but, it needs to be checked out, if nothing else to make sure it is ready and safe to pull. So, we will continue to look and see whats out there that makes sense for us. Thank you all again for your help< Kirt Many of these items are simple fixes, my steps get hard on occasion and some WD loosens them right up and I suspect the basement doors will also, they are piano hinges. Batteries are supplied by the dealer. I would change the tires as it came with cheap ST's. If KZ has said they will cover it under warranty take it to them. I own a 353RKT and any issues can be handled locally, Suburban, Norcold etc all cover their appliances, KZ is the middle man. The love seats the biggest item I see and even if you had to purchase a new one they run just over $1,000, I bought one and pulled the couch. Depending on what price you can negotiate it may still be worth buying. Just did a net serch to see what they are selling for and found this "New" 17 353KKT so if it's not the one your looking at it's another option: www.rvtrader.com/listing/2017-Kz-Rv-DEMO---Durango-Gold-G353RKT-5000782046

Maybe you should do the deal, then take the thing to Shipsewana and have the =factory= do the warranty work. :-) Lyle

I'm going to give week or so and see what shakes out. I may reach out to KZ directly and see what if anything they suggest as far as warranty repairs . I did make an aggressive offer, based on the conditions we saw, and to be honest we were looking for the counter offer, which had it been close, I would have done a deal. They chose not to counter at this time, but they may, the longer it sits this fall.

Well after thinking I wanted a 353 RKT, the wife explained to me the overall benefits of a 366FBT. So, that is the way we are leaning today. We are looking at one tomorrow, if it is as advertised, it could be in the driveway by weeks end. Thanks again for all the advice! Kirt

midlotexan I will say that Kz if taken to the factory will fix all you have stated, they replaced our theater seating an a slide topper under warranty among other things .... But saying the above I thing looking at another unit may be the right thing to do, you never know what is hidden on the other even though you looked at it on the outside what was hidden on the inside ... As nvguy stated there may have been water damage because from what you said about it looking dirty an un-washed i'd be very careful with such a unit ... As well not being a dealer any more, Kz CS can point you to a dealer, but again how much repair will it take to bring it back to what I would call new shape ... Good Luck, let is know what the other trailer looks like Chuck

Well, we bought a 366 FBT today from Gibbs Outdoor in Waco,TX. We have looked at this floor plan multiple times, and it was decided to be our best option. We will pick it up next week, after they do their make ready service, ahead of our PDI. The Gibbs family, were very helpful and knowledge. They made our purchase to this point a breeze. Hopefully we will meet some of you along the road. We plan to leave DFW after the first of the year and head south, west and who knows where for 5 or 6 weeks. Then in late May head to the northeast and also go to Nova Scotia for 6-8 weeks.
After looking for the last 6 months, the KZ product, we felt gave us the best value. Kirt

Sounds like you made the right decision to pass....though you were disappointed. It seems that the dealer should have had some shop people who could put he unit into shape....maybe that is why he doesn't have a dealership anymore. Good luck on your search.

Well, we are now KZ owners. We brought home the 366FBT today. We picked it up at Gibbs RV in Waco, and had our first taste of pulling fifth wheel. It was, pleasantly, uneventful. All the research, from the truck to hitch and of course the trailer seems to have paid off, 110 miles in. Next weekend we will go to The Vineyard's RV park in Fredericksburg TX. It is about 240 miles, a nice park with big pull thru sites. We felt it to be about the right distance and having been there before, an easy place to set up the first time, outside the driveway. Safe travels to all and many thanks again for all the advice thru our search! Kirt

Since your new KZ is now in your driveway it's time for "official" Congratulations midlotexan. Yeah, these KZ 5th wheels pull quite well. Perfect idea, first trip far enough to feel worthwhile, but not to far. Here's to lots of good times.

Kirt I have to tell our 40ft Durango Gold pulls better that our old 33ft Coachmen Cappy ... There were a few other owners on the form that was worried about pulling a 5th, after a few hundred miles under their belt they felt a whole lot better about pulling a 5th wheel Again Congratulations an welcome to the Kz family ... Safe Travels Chuck
