Hello fellow campers. My wife and I just purchased a new 2018 sporttrek 271 vrb. So far we love the rv, well everything except the mattress. This thing is horrible. We have a Residential queen size mattress and we do have the storage under the bed so I understand it has to be fairly thin. Has anyone on here replaced their mattress and can give me some pointers that won’t break the bank. Can’t get much worse than this mattress. Thought about throwing it out and laying on the plywood.. lol. Please help..

Don't feel like this is just a KZ issue, my experience has been every RV mattress stinks. Have you tried a mattress topper? Originally we went that route, (4" memory foam) but it was too soft and trapped the wife as she sunk in it. Ultimately we had a local mattress manufacturer make us one, as we have an RV king, so nothing off the shelf would fit. Wasn't cheap, but sometimes you just have to pay... Oh, and even though it is a residential mattress, we can still use the underbed storage.

I put a 10" RV length mattress in mine and built 3 drawers with full extension glides on each side. I lost a few inches of space in the middle of the box (due to trailer width) but the drawers are so much more useful than having to lift the lid & mattress every time you want something the trade off is worth it 10 times over.

I added a memory foam mattress topper from Costco. Great upgrade and still thin/light for RV use.

There is no substitute for a good night's sleep. We replaced the included piece of junk mattress with a custom 8" memory foam/gel combo mattress. It was custom cut to the non-standard RV King size and we had a notch cut along the end so it would tuck in under the headboard.

We added added a memory foam mattress topper from Costco as well, works well for us, but as you have seen others have went a different route, it's what ever you feel you need to get a good nights sleep Safe Travels Chuck

We bought a full size queen memory foam mattress. I took plywood and extended the length of the bed platform. It gave less room to walk but a way better sleeping experience.
