Question: Has anyone installed a Fantastic Fan in place of the vent? I have a 2011 Sportsmen 14 and would like to give this a shot. There is a light source right next to it that i would assume I could pull power from. Will this work? Is the Fantastic Fan the same dimensions? Not only width but height? Is there anything I should be aware of? Thanks much for the help!

I did this job on the same camper you have and it turned out very well. I know I pulled power from somewhere close, but I don't remember if it was from that light or not. The dimensions of the fan matched the hole, so no surprises there. If I recall, the inner trim piece slides into a channel in the fan housing so it can adjust to different roof thicknesses. It's a chore scraping the old caulk/sealant off the hole edges, but if you want a watertight install, you need a clean surface. I will say that the fan is, in fact, fantastic. It moves so much air that I'm not sure how we survived without it. I did install the huge fan cover so we can travel with the vent open and not worry about rain. That said, while camping, high wind can blow rain in even with the vent cover. It's gotta be pretty high wind though. Good luck on the job.

I think this is a project I really need to do. Just kind of scary. I don't have any leaks and certainly don't want to create any. Also hate to spend the money and order one only to find out it won't fit or be able to tie in to electrical close by. So thanks for the insight. That helps a lot!

AFAIK, all top vents are a common size, so these kinds of fans and A/C units should fit with no issues.

Lyle I haven't had a chance to proceed yet but maybe will order the fan this weekend or next week. Little concerned about how thick my roof is. I haven't taken the beauty cap off yet to measure but it sure doesn't look 4". Also hoping I can tie into the light with no issues. Any suggestions for sealing?

However much sealant you think is good, double it, then put Eternabond over that. :-) Lyle

That sounds like a great mod. I would love to install one of those, but I am not paying $100 plus for one. I don't see why they are so expensive.

I can understand that but you will be amazed at how well it really does work. One of the best mods we've done. Quality wise it is very good. Quiet operation. We've been camping about 25 nights now with it and it continues to impress. We can hang out wet towels from the shower rod, turn the fan on, leave for the day, and when we get back they are completely dry. When the camper is hot inside, turn it on and you can feel it suck all that hot air out super fast. We had a windy night the other night and when the water heater was heating up using propane the alarm went off. We turned the fan on with a window open and it sucked it out fast. Good product. I wouldn't hesitate to make the purchase. I think I paid about $125 on eBay.

I have 2 fans on my Escape e201BH - one in the main cabin by the stove, and another in the shower - both were non powered, so I replaced the one in the main cabin to get some air flow without using the AC, when I took out the vent, was pleasently surprised to see it was already prewired for a powered vent !!! replacement went well too about 3 hrs (Most of the time was for removing the sealant!!)
I used a Max Air vent -- was bouncing from this and the Fantastic Fan - chose the Max Air strictly for funds -- would have went with Fantastic Fan, but just couldn't justify the extra $$$$ for the remote control and Rain sensor -- The Max Air - i chose has a thermostat - taht I find very useful, and being able to leave it open in the rain
Just to each their own
