I am not sure if other regions have spring predicting groundhogs but we do. People in our area...Dunkirk, NY believe groundhog "Dunkirk Dave" can predict our Spring. Well, he did not see his shadow....early Spring predicted..."Pawsatauny (sp?) Phil" didn't see his either. I think, the people here are so sick of the cold and winter they will put hope in anything to get winter over. Let's hope Dave and Phil are right so I can dig out the 5th Wheel and get on the road again. I figure it's a 50/50 chance. Should have headed south in January. Happy Groundhog's Day to all!!!!

Our Ohio groundhog, Buckeye Chuck, didn't see his shadow either.
If they don't see their shadow, 6 weeks until spring (early spring). If they do see their shadow, it's a month and a half until spring (late spring).
You do the math. LOL

Regardless of what the rodents say I wish spring would hurry up and get here, we got about 4" of snow today. More predicted for tomorrow.

Ugh, 18 last night 36 yesterday suppose to be 40 today, still have snow on the ground an saying more snow on Friday ... Ground frozen solid so even if we had a ground hog out here he could see his shadow because he couldn't dig out
unless he had his hole already made Ugh!!!
However it is sort of fun when it snows do to the fact the people in Seattle always try to drive down the steep hilts up there
an play bumper cars coming down such, they never learn, year after year!!!!
Safe travels

Thanks for all your fun comments, winter gets very long without sharing with others.
We went from 13 degrees below zero a week or so ago with 25-35 below zero wind chills to +45 degrees the other day and rain. Today is in the mid-30's. We are supposed to get thunder storms and wind with 60 MPH gusts tonight. We have lost a lot of snow plus the rain makes the ground a mud-bowl. There will be trees down with the soggy ground and wind predicted. We love WNY, south west of Buffalo, but the Lake Effects make winter a wild ride sometime. We have measure over 90 inches of snow for the season at our house, that is low for the year.....it isn't over yet.
I also learned something new, Ohio has their famous groundhog too.
Thanks again for sharing.

It really gets depressing here in florida, I just don't know how much more of the sunny and 80 degree weather I can stand before I snap.
My palm tree just saw it shadow so I guess it will be 6 more weeks of sunshine

I wonder what they would do with 3ft of snow as I remember in Ohio an Mich growing up at a very young age LOL now wonder my parents moved to Texas LOL

I heard the same reports in Western NY for the Seattle weather. We just laugh here in WNY. Winter is tough here but sometimes I am glad we have to go through our winters, we learn how to be prepared and take care of ourselves.

As I have stated before growing up in Ohio off Lake Erie an driving semi over the road in all types of weather including snow I as well laugh when seeing such... But the fact is that I can drive in snow no problem, it's the other people who I worry about, grandma driving at 30mph on I-5 trying to get to the store or doctors office or the guy driving his jack up hummer 80mph thinking he can do such dodging in an out an around traffic an ending up in the ditch Ugh !!! Well 10" of snow this morning an still snowing, I new I should have bought that snow plow for the front of our jeep YJ5 Ugh !!! could have paid for our trip back to the rally in two days
Weather guy said more snow coming on Sunday, looks like we are going to end up with about 16 or 18 inches or more before it's done, love it, YA-Hoooo

Wow, you are getting hit, considering it is not usual for you. The problem for most snow-free or low-snow areas if they get hit is they don't have the equipment to deal with the snow....it is a huge expense for equipment, labor, and salt. Stay warm and safe.

Boy Chuck, you are getting hit, we have been getting bits and pieces, 1" then 3", luckily a lot melts off. If we got hit with 18" in one shot Reno would shut down, as we have more idiot drivers who think 2 MPH on the freeway is being safe than legally allowed.

Well shoveled path to Radio shop an tractor shop an in front of garage somewhat, expecting package from UPS guy so I don't want him to slip or fall with my 50pd 70amp power supply
Forgive me for saying that 4 letter word S**W, I know better, look what I did, more of it tonight, lucky we have
about 4 county trucks in this part of the county to plow that four letter word on the main roads an interstate ... This part of the country they do not use salt, they use sand an chemicals to clean the road, as well most people have chains
because of the mountains so it's only the city slickers that have problems ....
They had a RV show in Seattle this weekend, bet there is more salesman/women than customers wondering around LOL... I bet if you were there you would be overrun with them showing you a RV an trying to talk your leg off about such ....
DW said it's 15 degrees, warming up to the high twenty's or low thirties today Ugh, I-90 closed for avalanche clearing, forecasting S**W off an on for the next week to 10 days Ugh !!!!
Safe Travels
