Just purchased a KZ Sportsman LE 250 THLE. On delivery salesman asks if I want to purchase extended warranty. I usually do not purchase extended warranties. He tells me that fridges, air conditioners, water heaters, etc are expensive to buy. I'm thinking the unit is brand new should be good for years. Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I am NOT an extended warranty person. And the salesman is just like the life insurance agent... back up the hearse and smell the roses. If he tells you the bad stuff then it just pads his paycheck as he will get a nice chunk of that money. He tried and tried to get me to purchase it on my Gold last year. He tried to sell it as a 7 year warranty, but really I would have been paying that large amount for a 5 year warranty since KZ gives a 2 year warranty. So, for me it is always a no on extended warranties.

Overall, once an appliance makes it thru its first 3-6 uses / trips things go pretty well for years. Yes, there are surprises, but most just keep going. Biggest issue with furnaces is bugs building nests in the burner chamber, for water heaters it's also bug infestations followed by fried 110 elements because people forget to turn the 110 off after draining it. Refrigerators tend to work OK, but sometimes debris fall on the burner creating issues. A/Cs have bug issues (nests around blower fans), but not all that common. The blower motors do fail due to lack of lube, but don't lie awake nights. Warranty sales are big moneymakers. You want something to worry about? (not really, but I got your attention). Stay up on inspecting and keeping the roof, exterior openings (doors, windows, etc) and moldings sealed- water intrusion gets expensive real fast. Same thing with not inspecting wheel bearings & brakes yearly and watching tire condition and pressures.

Without warranty coverage, you decide who fixes it, when it will be fixed and what materials will be used. With a "warranty" you are down all summer and there is little chance it will be fixed to your satisfaction. With the selling dealer I had, I found even the factory warranty was a joke.

Our Dealer has been just ok on factory warranty, the Kz factory has been great, the forever warranty is to be seen in the future ... Safe travels Chuck

I just responded to a similar question in another thread. Most of the parts are not that expensive. Look on line at an A/C, water heater. stove, etc. If your handy you can DIY, if not an RV repair can do it for less cost than a dealer, all they need is the parts. Look up RV repair and then KZ dealers there is no comparison in the number available. KZ warranty covers while it's new.

Thanks campers/owners, my thoughts exactly. This year KZ only offers 1 year warranty and gives me a year to think about the extended however I tand to agree with your thoughts and will probably not purchase it.

What I have seen on the Kz web page is that the smaller TT have no mention of warranty unlike the bigger line of TT an 5th wheels which state they have a 2 year warranties ... Safe Travels Chuck
