I just finished installing backup lights on my new Spree 261 RKS/LX in spite of the fact the factory cut off the "yellow" lead in the pig tail. I fixed it by moving all of the clamps, cutting back the cable sheath and gaining enough length to add a connector. All of which would not have been necessary had the cable not been cut. WHY?
The brakes (as delivered...) were so far out of adjustment, that only one wheel was braking. I know the manual says to put on several hundred miles and re-adjust, but this could have been a safety issue. My dealer is some 300 miles away, so I did not bother to drag it back for them to fix it, just did it myself.

After you wired the yellow wire up, did you have backup lights on your camper? The reason I ask, with my experience with trailer/campers, is that the tail light assemblies do not have a bulb for back up lights or are not wired for it. Now they may have recently changed something that I'm not aware of but I do not think that it is a requirement for trailers to have back up lights.

No, I doubt that it is a requirement, but sure handy when you get in after dark and can't see behind you. I installed an auxiliary light from Harbor Freight by using an existing hole in the scissors jack mounting bracket, so no drilling required!

You will still have to be sure the tow vehicle manufacturer has provided a circuit to the 7-pin outlet at the hitch. Let me know if you have anything else to ask1
