572 miles today, and very comfortable with it. You guys were right. Thanks for the encouragement. 572 miles in a day? Your an animal...... That was a day in a commercial rig. Your working too hard.
I'm with Ed on this one. We consider a long day to be 300 miles, and we prefer 200. But, each to his own. I also tow at 60 MPH ... another preference that others do differently. Hope you make the Rally.

Wasn’t by choice but some circumstances beyond our control forced it. We had to meet up with my cousin in Connecticut and already had reservations in Maine. Won’t be doing it again I hope. These Pennsylvania roads are the pits.

We just finished our maiden voyage in our new Durango Gold. Our old rig was 32 feet. We loved the many new features on the inside. Probably the best shower I've ever had in a camper. Loved the lighted pantry, the second spacious 1/2 bath, the self leveling feature, stable feel without so much bounce. In short we loved everything about this Durango Gold but one thing---the 40 ft length. Even though the dealer let me take it on a trial run and seemed comfortable at the time, I'm just not sure I can get use to the extra length. We pulled off once for a lunch break and I panicked when got on an extremely narrow road with a sharp turn. Almost hit the curb. Long story short, I'm thinking this may not work for us. Yep it will be an extremely costly lesson learned. 70 years old and maybe to old to teach this old dog some new tricks. I agree that you'll get used to it after you get some experience. Growing up farming, and towing some crazy stuff, I simply learned to used my mirrors a lot and not to be afraid to take 2 lanes to widen my turns out. I also learned to have NO problems stopping in the middle of a road to wait for traffic to clear until I could make a turn...within reason. I also tried to plan my routes in my head if I was familiar with where I needed to go. I've also found it easier, on occasion, to go around a block to cross an intersection rather than make a risky left turn. This is especially true when I'm towing our 30' 3-axle GN flat bed. Given its longer bridge length from hitch to axles, it turns corners a couple feet shorter than my 31'8" FW, so I have to be =very= careful, though the G rated tires have no problems hopping curbs. Of course I was on I-10, I-210 and I-5, and we all know how =wonderful= Kali freeways are. Empty, it like to beat us to death. I can only thank G*D that I'd installed the new Bilsteins before tackling this trip. Coming back, with about 6500 lbs of tractor on the trailer, it was =much= nicer, though still d@mn rough in spots. Long, long days, though. Lyle

Want to thank everyone on this board for encouraging me to stay with the 366fbt. Third day under my belt (240 miles today). We are in Freeport Maine tonight. Every day getting more comfortable with the big rig. I would not recommend timbrins on these rough roads. Going to come off when I get home and replaced with some good air bags.

There seem to be more an more ruff roads back east now days from what we have seen an read about her on the form an others ... That is not to say there isn't any out here in the west, pulling out of a flyJ last year I scraped off the extra sewer hose connection on out 5th wheel, thought I was 4 wheeling Ugh ... I have air bags on our F350 LB 4x4 CC an they work well, I put 45pds in them most time pulling the trailer at most 50pds, I also upgraded to better stiffer shocks this year as well, sure made a difference with new shocks but hey the old onc's were 9 years old Safe travels an again glad you are getting use to the new rig Chuck

Louisiana has pot holes that will swallow a VW. Most roads out here in the SW are fairly well maintained.

Up here in Western Washington State in they leave the road ruff so they can ask for more money for roads, problem is they spend it on everything else but the roads since it all goes into the general fund ... Or they fix the road an then put a toll on it to collect more money Chuck

Back from Maine, Vermont to Georgia safely. We love the rig. Only a few minor problems as it to be expected with any camper. The roads were so rough in Pa and New Jersey that it actually shook the brackets loose in the cloths closet. 5 minute repair. Found some loose bolts on the front stabilizers of the self leveling system. Easy fix. The Gray water sensors not working at all so will eventually carry it back, (probably on the annual service) and get that checked out. Not giving a faulty reading, but showing empty even when full.
I can't decide if the self leveling feature or the second half bath with the super exhaust fan is my favorite. I'm a HVAC retired owner and a super exhaust fan excites me.
The 40 foot length just requires some extra thought when stopping on the interstate. We were coming home and entered a city where we wanted to stop, then got reservations in a camp ground but forgot to change the GPS, so we found ourselves downtown, right in the center. Made it thru with no problems. A real learning experience. BTW, 400-450 mile days, no more 572.
