I also noticed that the floor ducts in our new D1500 can't be closed off, and this concerns me just for better temp control on the off chance we ever use the furnace. (My old Komfort's furnace got used < 10 times in 13 years.) This is another reason to replace them. Hadn't thought about the furnace return air. Just have to find it. :-)

I had to trim one of my air duct registers from HD which I placed on the back side of our kitchen island, it wouldn't open all the way because the duct was not deep enough ... I shaved about a thirty second off the bottom of the paddle an now it works just fine ... Only problem with this vent is when open it cut off warm air going to the vent next to the davenport when opened all the way ... Safe Travels Chuck

Another "quickie" fix for the registers, would be to get some sheets of magnetic sign material and cut to fit over the vents. Even a closed vent can leak a bit, both air and dirt.

They make magnetic vent covers for the vents. I bought some for my Other fifth wheel but I've never used them.

Don't know about others, but my OEM vents were plastic ... so no magnets will work. With regard to Chuck needing to trim his closable vents. I see the exact problem which can be solved in two ways. 1: keep your old covers for heating season. 2: open up your ducting ... mine are made of what I call "foam core" ... it's a foil cover insulating product that behaves like card board, and has been formed into a duct for the floor heat. In my kitchen, the insulation from below pushes on this material and serves to restrict the airflow. Open up the ducting to reestablish it's shape and the interference issue goes away. The bathroom and bedroom (in my unit) are on individual round ducts, so this issue only applies to the kitchen and LR vents. Others may have a different set up. I have a 381REF
