I just got my May edition of Trailer Life Magazine in the mail today. Just so you Durango Gold owners will know (and of course everybody) K-Z and the Durango Gold are featured on the front cover and in the magazine.

Haven't gotten mine yet now I'm getting excited to see what they say. Sunday edit: It was in the mail! Good article on the build of Durango's, the review could have been mine. Different floor plan but other wise the "features" are the same.

Got mine today, they seem to like the uni, Price on MSRP was allot higher than what we paid.
Also the said the was cheap hardware in the bathroom, they must have got an early model because mine has all metal/chrome hardware, in fact the shower head/assemble is better than what we have in our home LOL...
Did go out to day and DE-winterize the trailer today, turned on the frig, water heater etc to make sure everything is working, no leaks, did forget to put the rod in the water heater to begin with Ugh ...

Mine has all brushed stainless fixtures in the bath area, and a top of the line pullout in the kitchen sink. Like you wife said the one in the kitchen was what she had wanted at home. Memory says the outside is also metal too.

Ugh Edd505 that is what we have as well, brushed stainless fixtures in the bath area, couldn't think of it so I just put metal/chrome, hey I was close LOL Guess some metal/chrome stuff in allot of cases is cheap because it peals after a few years, but we sure do not have the plastic stuff ... Maybe the article was written awhile back an Kz got the hint an upgraded to all the new stuff... Ours was built in October of 2016 but is a 2017 model, jetzens was built in I believe February 2017 an is a 2018 model ... Can't figure out if Kz is a year ahead of it's self or someone has the wrong calendar ...

Chuck mine was built in 03/17 vin# designates it as a 2018.
My bathroom fixtures are also brushed nickel.
I drove 35 miles today to get the May issue of Trailer Life and have partially read it. I think what they are saying for the shower head is that for a full time unit it could have been a shower massage instead of just a regular shower head. I think it is a nice one, better than the shower head that was in my Montana.
What I am a little disappointed in is the lack of bath towel hooks in the bathroom. Pretty much everything else I have read in that article I will agree with.

Ok Jetzen Now that's dedication drive 35 miles for a magazine, a only a true Kz owner would do that LOL I called Kz Customer service today to get a build sheet, really nice gal, very friendly, gave her the last part of my vin number and she said "so what can I do for you Mr. Chuck V " I said can I ask were my fresh water tank is located and is it possible to get a build sheet on my trailer. She said sure, no problem, she didn't ask for my address she just stated "you are living at such and such address in Washington State" I said "yes" she stated "I will put it in the mail in the morning" and your fresh water tank is located under your steps" I said "wait a minute, there under the steps in my slide out" she said "no I should have made it more clean" as she was laughing "under the inside steps" by this time we were both laughing ... I told her that the wife and I were looking forward to seeing the plant and the people at the Kz rally in August. She sated that they were excited that we were having one an hoped to meet us all I have to say what more can you ask for service, friendly, helpful, didn't pass me off to someone else she had all the information right there on her computer and new how to get it quickly with a smile ... I did ask her if the calender's in Indiana were a year ahead of time since jetzen got a 2018 an I had a 2017, she was very quick witted and stated no we don't even change the time, we both had a good laugh. She then stated they changed over in June to the new model dates, I didn't go any further on the subject, said thank you and have a very great day, she replied with the same .... Very unpressed I have to say just like my trailer

Chuck,
I really wanted to read what trailer life had to say because sometimes they can be brutal. The closest news stand to me is Walmart which is 20 miles away, who would have thought that they don't sell Trailer Life magazine? They sell every other magazine but not Trailer Life. So a quick phone call from the Walmart parking lot to the next closest news stand guess what no Trailer Life. So now I'm on a mission. I call Barnes and Nobel which is another 15 miles down the road. They have 10 copies of the May issue. Yeah this turned into a road trip, hope it's a good issue.

LoL jetzen been there, we have to go 25 miles to the Fredmyers/Kroger for the stores because the DW is not a fan of Safeway, even though every so often we go there and it's only 10 miles away, go figure... The Camp grounds called this afternoon and I states we would be there on Sunday and leave a week from Monday, nice gal, told her to park me as far away from you as she could LOL, no I ask for the spot next to you if possible Chuck

The October issue of Trailer Life Magazine makes a "mention" of Durango Gold. They highlight 12 different brands of fifth wheels designed for full time living. While each one only gets a paragraph or two and not much is said about each, Durango Gold was included in their list. And of the 12, Durango Gold was the one with the cheapest base price.

Yep, saw that, I wonder if they were going on base price of the lower end models instead of the upper end so they wouldn't scare people to death...
I know our G384FLT with all the bells an whistles was a MSRP of $98k but like jetzen we got a really good price, was so good we couldn't refuse LOL Ugh

Chuck,
I know that yours is not much different than mine and if your dealer told you $98k they are smokin' something.

You know it legal here in Washington so he might have LOL, Also there is a RV site (don't remember which) that all the types of trailers with their MSRP listed.
As well it had the price of each item added to the trailer such as extra air conditioner, night shades, dish washer, etc, I added up everything on ours an it came up to $104.000 so I figured the dealer was close... Of course like your ours where other trailers would have stuff ours has standard they would have stuff listed as options ... You also have to remember our shipping may have been a bit higher do to the over 2000 mile delivery trip, but I would guess not to much since your was delivered in Florida...
BTW way I did switch pin boxes back to the one the trailer came with, I still have the MorRyde but after the 2 years is up I will change back to the MorRyde, we will see how much difference there is next week when we go camping with our GS group, it will be about a 200 mile round trip ...

Yes that would be interesting to know your opinion of the difference between the 2 different pin boxes. I get very little chucking with the Rotaflex, it's a really smooth ride but I am comparing that to the old Montana that had a conventional pin box and conventional rear suspension equalizers with shock absorbers. It's funny I thought the old Montana was smooth until I pulled the new trailer.

I agree, the difference between our old Coachmen Chaparral DS277 33ft the new Kz 5th at 41ft pull much better an is far smoother with by far hardly any chucking an a better ride overall.. I have to say we leave the coffee pot up on the counter next to the frig, the standup paper towel holder, salt an pepper holder as well an they never move, we could not do that with the old trailer, no way, they would have been on the floor for sure. I went an had the pin box changed the other day, round trip was about 18 miles on back roads, I felt little if no difference between pin boxes, mx speed was between 40 an 50mph with four left hand turns coming home an then another left hand turn backing into the driveway. I heard the same loud popping of the fame as I did with the MorRyde from the frame twisting when backing at 45 to 50 degrees to start with ... Chuck

I'm with jetzen, I thought my Jayco Eagle pulled well, until I pulled the Durango, much smoother with the same TV.

Ok As stated in another post we went back to the original pin box (Rotaflex)that came with our 384FLT Durango Gold from the MorRyde we had put on ... We have now went a total of 105 miles with the Rotaflex pin box, I really have to say I didn't see much difference in the ride, I did have a very little slop but that I believe is in the 5th wheel it's self ... i am thinking about buying a new 5th wheel hitch since my Curt 16k seems to be getting harder an harder to pull the pin when unhooking so there may be a problem with the 5th wheel ... Safe Travels Chuck

I was wondering that myself while I am not having any problems with my 5th wheel hitch as of right now, how long do they last, how long can you "trust" them to operate properly. I have a Reese PRO 16K, it has a lifetime warranty (what ever that means) on the hitch head. It is 15 years old right now and has seen a few miles. It has actually been in 2 trucks and pulled 2 different trailers.

I think keep em lubed, there are no real wear parts. How many miles on class 8's? 750K on mine before I sold it and many with a million miles pulling 45K or more.
