North Carolina has some beautiful scenery and some really nice campgrounds. However; if you decide to camp in the Asheville area in late september to mid October, be aware of a problem that you may, probably will run into. we were coming in a very nice campground in Franklin, NC last september and I saw a news article on a tv station originating out of Asheville that was about the coming STINKBUG invasion coming to Asheville. I thought no more about it and in a few days we moved on to a beautiful campground on top of a mountain in Asheville. Within minutes of getting set up in our spot, the camper was covered in stinkbugs! we fought them the whole week we were there, killing at least 75 of them inside the camper. We left after a week and went to a campground west of nashville tenn the next night and apparently we had brought them with us! we killed over 50 of them that night. to make a long story short we continue to fight them 7 months later. we camped 3 or 4 times over the winter and every time we set up we would start killing stink bugs. We are leaving for a week over in the Texas hill country sunday and were getting the camper ready today and discovered over 30 of then dead on the floor! At least they were dead. We are hoping we've seen the last of them. So, if you are considering the Asheville area in late september, i would call ahead and ask if the stinkbugs were there yet. If they say yes, my advice would be to stay away. It's not worth the trouble.

A few years we ran into that problem when we were at the Hershey RV show but I don't think it was as bad as your experience but it seemed to take forever to get rid of all of them. They seem to be attracted to light at night and I had some success using a sticky pad mouse trap and a LED light stuck up thru the middle of it. Funny thing just happened--Sharon just caught a stinkbug in our house.
