WHEW! I finished waxing our 38fl yesterday. Now it's almost too pretty to take out on the road. It took 6 days of 2 to 3 hours a morning to do it, but it was worth it. It looks better than the day i picked it up from the dealer. I used maguiar's FLAGSHIP boat wax. This is the 2nd time i've used this product and i highly recommend it. It goes on easily and the instructions say to only leave it on for 3 or 4 minutes and then wipe it off. Then it wipes off very easily and leaves a brilliant shine. I waxed the "monster" with this product about a year ago and used a sister product Maguiar's FLAGSHIP WASH & WAX to wash it whenever it needed it and the unit looks good all the time. Now, if someone could only come up with a way to wax these things that doesn't involve using a ladder , the job wouldn't be nearly so bad. My old knees and legs don't like climbing ladders! My next project will involve trying to get the roof and the slide out awnings looking as good as the rest of the unit. I fear that will be an even bigger job! I don't know if it is because of the hot climate that we live in down here; but i had a rubber residue stuck on almost every slide out where the rubber seals looked liked they had either rubbed off on or melted against the sides of the slide out while it was closed. I had to use a tar remover product and a lot of elbow grease to remove that residue. Has anyone else noticed this problem? In the case of our camper, I think the old adage "do you own your things or do your things own you?" is appropriate. I sure seem to put a lot of time and energy into maintaining, cleaning, polishing, repairing, modifying our rig. But we also spend a lot of time on the road, so I guess it's all worth it. Hope to get another 15 to 20 days in this year. Some of you yankees need to come visit us down here in the deep south this winter. to us a cold day is when it gets down in the 30's and we kick back in our camper with the fireplace on and a good book and all is well with the world. But at least you get to enjoy the snow! isn't that what you call that cold white stuff?
To all fellow KZ owners; have a nice and safe winter!
