I installed registers that close and seems to make a difference. Trailer stays comfortable even on almost 100 degree days in direct sun. I have front living and discovered that front is hottest and bedroom is coolest.

They are great, I wish I could find some for the large vents that I have. The only thing you need to be careful of is closing off too much air and freezing up the a/c unit.

There are a few of use who have bought vents to put in the floor that can be closed off ... I believe most of us bought them at Home Depot ... The only problem I had was that the ducting just past our center island was bent up somewhat so I couldn't close the vent all the way an it was blocking the air going to the very back of the trailer ... Otherwise all the other vents have been with replaced an we can close off or open as needed...
I did find out the screw holes were off a bit so I have never really tighten them down but they stay in place without a problem Chuck

John, these are floor vents for the heat system ... nothing to do with AC airflow (other than blocking the sinking cool air from going into your basement).

I have front living and discovered that front is hottest and bedroom is coolest. Another big leaker for your cold air is the furnace return. Blocking that will help even more. Just be careful to "unblock" everything when/if you use the furnace. A blocked furnace return could cause the furnace to overheat and is a potential fire hazard.

I assumed a/c because the original poster said: "Trailer stays comfortable even on almost 100 degree days in direct sun."

So I am confused ... you bought AC registers that when closed, make your trailer cooler? My apologies to John ... guess you were correct.

With A/C in mine, the living room is freezing while the bedroom is a furnace. By closing off 2 of the 4 vents in the living room, it forces more air to the bedroom and the temperature everywhere is better.
The heating system is the the exact opposite. The bedroom and bathroom are hot but the living room and kitchen are cold. I can close off the bedroom and bathroom registers and it makes the whole camper comfortable.

Might also help to crack a roof vent in the b/r, assuming you have one, to help vent the hot air without having to close off vents "downstairs". A small fan to blow into the b/r will help, too. Really helps to keep as much air flowing as possible, especially with the small ducts in these rigs. Lyle

Ours is front living and that part is hottest. Step down to kitchen and it’s cooler. Now bedroom is freezer. 90 degrees no problem at close to 100 if I close bedroom ac vents with both airs running it helps, but the heating registers being closed helps also.

We have two AC's an the DW likes them both on most of the time, thats why I call our trailer the meat Locker
