I have a 2010 kz sportsmen 14rb. The weekend before last just after a pretty heavy down pour I had a fairly good leak through the light above the sink into the sink. Just wondering if anyone has some advice where to start the search. Thx

You need to look over the caulk on the roof and anywhere above the level of the lamp. Water can follow framing and travel some distance from the point of entry. Do not waste any time correcting this, water entry will destroy the trailer in short order. If you find no obvious places for leakage, report back for more ideas.

I had a leak on my 19bh that was coming down through the left part of the cabinet and dripping from the 120v outlet and antenna amplifier. It was coming through the antenna mount on top of the trailer. I looked up there after a rain and noticed that there was water pooling all around the base of the antenna. When at home, I keep the trailer jacked up in the front which allows that water to easily drain back and away from the base, but when it was level while camping, it allowed the water to pool and eventually leak into the antenna base. I had it resealed and didn't have any further problems.

Yah, that's the one they sent back after I sent in the old one. It was kind of nice to have a brand new one. Not sure what the problem was with the old one, but no matter now.

Sorry I took so long to respond. Thankfully it hasn't really rained because I've not been feeling great. So I hadn't had much chance to look. I did get up there with a ladder and didn't see any obvious signs. I did have the antenna in the traveling position though so I'll put it up and check again. I may just need to redo the whole roof sealant. It is 8 years old and I'm unsure when it was or even if it was fully done actually. I've only owned it since October. Thank you for the advice and I will get back with what I find.

You could spray water up there and watch for it to start leaking and then try to trace it back to the source. Also, after you spray or after a rain, look up on top and try to see if you can see anything from that vantage point.
Hope you are feeling better now.

I would say that after eight years you need to reseal around all the things on your roof anyway just to be safe so your trailer will last another eight years Water is the number one killer of trailers an like mice any little hole in your trailer they an water will get in Safe Travels, hope you feel better Chuck

Yah, I agree, probably time for a full roof reseal. If you can do it yourself, it isn't very expensive at all. Just use a quality sealant made for RV roofs and even if you have it done, it isn't too bad that way wither.

On our old 5th wheel which was 33ft long it cost me $125 to have everything done which included removing the old stuff, one tube of sealant, an tax an done by local RV repair shop three years ago ... They did our new 5th wheel on the front an back caps as Preventive maintenance an it was $88 which included tube of sealant an tax by RV dealer ... There a number of U-tube videos on how to do such if your willing to do it yourself ... Safe Travels Chuck Chuck

Chuck, if I knew of a shop that would do a 33 foot trailer for $125 to include removing the old stuff, I wouldn't hesitate to let them do it as long as you are comfortable with their work. That seems dirt cheap. I suppose if you know what you are doing, it isn't that big of a job.
I took mine in for that roof (antenna) leak to my local shop and they hit me for $75. Took 3 minutes and they charged me for a half hour labor and a tube of sealant. If I was sure it was the antenna, I would have done it myself.

13z714x4 As I said it was three years ago an the shop rate was $95 an hour, now it's $135, they do great work but the drive up here to get such done might be a little costly for just some roof sealing ... The year after we resealed the roof we had them do the following below before falling in love with our Kz G384RLT thinking we were going to keep the 33ft 5th wheel which was a Coachmen Chappy... I thought it was pretty cheap at 7k for all of it an we gained 3k when we traded it in on our new 5th wheel so it was worth it since the trailer had been paid for for a few years ... I can tell you that our old 5th wheel was not on the lot over a week before it was gone for 14K, so they made 4K on a 2006 Coachmen Chaparral DS277, that should if taken care of, last the next owner a long time They replaced our complete roof with some stuff that was suppose to be very low maintenance with a lifetime warranty against pealing or cracking replace one wood roof panel that had minimal water damage on one corner replaced all vents on the roof replaced both overhead fans kitchen an bathroom replaced tail lights with new LEDs replace all markers lights with LED lights replaced outside security lights with LED's Installed new rear electrical 30amp power plugin replacing old pull out type power cord Install new 30amp Progressive Industries Electrical Management System Replace all the wheel bearings an races with Timken Resealed two windows drivers side Washed waxed completer trailer ------------------------------------------ But if your willing to do the drive of course there is lots to see after it stops raining in late June or early July or you can bring your rain coats an boots along with your water wings an come early LOL Safe Travels Chuck

Ok so I took a look at it today and was unable to find any obvious place or places that the roof would be leaking from. So I'm thinking with it being 8 years old now a total reseal wouldn't hurt. It's a metal roof tt. So I assume I would scrape all sealant off and then clean and reseal. Anyone have any tips or know of any videos specific to our type of roof? Just want to do it once and correctly. I have a call into a local place for a price and will probably call others. If it's reasonable I would gladly pay to have it done. Thx for the help.

awdv6turbo There is a ton of U-tube videos showing you how to reseal or redo a roof here is a start below www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1HkmfY5-Zc but as you will see there is tons of info on such ... What I always do is sift thought all the vids on U-Tube an then make a list on the how-to-do-it an go from there, I don't rely on just on persons approach ... Safe Travels Chuck
