Hello, we have an 04 K Coyote and this is our second summer as it's owners. One of the "pop up style" beds has quite a bit of mold and mildew on the inside of the vinyl. Last year, I tried using oxi-clean with a hand held brush to clean it and it really didn't make much of a difference. I was wondering 1) if there is anyway to take off the vinyl covers to clean them and 2) what is the best cleaner to use. TIA!

Hi bstewart, I'll be real honest I'm not familiar with the setup of you trailer so I don't know how the vinyl eves come off. When ever I have a problem with mold and mildew on vinyl trim I use just plain undiluted household laundry bleach. I soak a sponge and wipe it down and let it sit for a few hours then wash with soap (dawn) and water. For stubborn staining I will repeat the process until all is gone. Usually no matter how bad the mold and mildew I have only needed to do the process 3 times. I would try this on a very small surface to see the effects. Clorox also makes a outdoor cleaning bleach. I have tried this product but have found that the laundry bleach works better and is less expensive. I have used this method on my 5th wheel outside vinyl trim, vinyl boat interior seating and vinyl patio furniture cushions and on vinyl house siding. Wear old clothing that is ok to ruin and you may want to wear some sort of respirator or mask so as not to breath to much of the fumes. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help! When we get some warmer and dry weather, I will open it back up and see what works to get it off.

Hi bstewart - Straight bleach will weaken the threads eventually. 10% bleach/water is good enough to kill mold and mildew. Never had either in our pop-up but grew up in Louisiana and we sprayed all exterior surfaces with a 10% mix twice a year. To protect the threads on the pop-up top consider a marine product like 3M mildew stain remover or their marine vinyl cleaner. Use 3M mildew block afterwards. Small boats use canvas and vinyl tops and vinyl seats. If 3M can kill mold/mildew in that environment it should work for yours. Speaking of environment - why is the vinyl wet/damp enough to promote mold and mildew growth? Might be a good idea to check for leaks or install a de-humidifer. Good luck!
