Just got back from Keuka Lake area, NY. In another blog I said that Keuka Lake State Park wasn't my favorite but I have to take that back. The sites are very large, grassy, and very secluded with natural well maintained brush boarders. There is a beach and marina which you have to drive to. There is a minimal playground. There isn't a lot to do for kids in the Finger Lakes....their tourism draw is the wine industry around each of the lakes. It is a beautiful area for just taking a ride too. Word to the wise....if you travel with a dog be sure you carry a copy of the vet signed Rabies certificate. They (keuka state park) require it so they can photo copy it. I have seen them have campers wait to get on their site until they can reach their vet for confirmation.....I always carry a copy in the trailer just to be sure.
Stopped at Watkins Glen State Park also....limited 30 ft sites.....really set up for smaller units but very nice shady sites. I don't think there is electric...check website. Watkins Glen Gorge is a nice walk but be sure you pick a time when there has been adequate rain to enjoy the falls and water features.
Towns of Watkins Glen and Hammondsport really cater to the tourist....restaurants, shops, boat tours on the lakes, etc. We tend to be in these areas...know them best.
